August 18, 2011No...Harleys dont vibrate..thats just hearsay.....
August 18, 2011Yesterday at the museum, I saw the Nova engine. It was a 4 cylinder engine that never went into real production. It was a cooperative effort between Harley and Porsche, but never did make it in the real world. Anyway my point is that the four cyclinder would probably vibrate much worse than 2 cylinders. I tried to pos a pictue, but this slow azz internet service will not let me upload a picture this morning.
I got it, here is the picture of the engine display the Nova v-4 is in the upper right corner of the picture.

rumor has it that some of Trippers fellow riders have secretly had the local leather shop peel back their bike seat and stuff an Airhawk into it and then re-sew the leather seat back over it.........He just doesn`t know
August 18, 2011Stock seat on the fatboy was shocking for any distance. Now i have the Lepera single seat its hard but you can put the miles in no problem with it. (And i got it for nothing) Great seat.
Trip i hear where your coming from LOL
August 18, 2011Play nice, we don`t want to bruise anyones ego. I for one have a bony azz that aches like a toothache when I ride. But that does not mean I quit, I have the sticktoitiveness to tough out the long miles and just ignore the pain in the azz and in the neck and shoulders.
Although I may have solved the azz problem with the air hawk and the sheepskin combination for the long haul, I have yeat to come up with a solution to alleviate the pain in my neck and shoulders which by the way hurts far more than my azz ever did from riding and i still put the miles on wiht almost the best of them. Bev said I was insane fro riding like I ride, but that is my style "hurry up and get there" That is the reason when I ride I choose to ride alone, not all the reasons but the main one.
August 18, 2011VT, I had the same problem, neck and shoulders with the fatboy. No problem this year since i put on the apes, best thing i have added to the bike
August 18, 2011Chaz,
I used to run the buckhorn style or mini-apes on my lowrider, they got ben up from where I dumped the bike a couple of times when I was showing my azz and I put a set of drag bars with 6 inch rizers on it, that is what is currently on that bike. I will probably at some time in the future invest in either some risers for the handlebars or a different type of bar that will fit on the roadglide. I always liked the buckhorns because I could pull them back closer to me if I wanted to or run them more in a vertical postition if I wanted to.
August 18, 2011Listen - I got an honorary brother card, am proud of it, and I just ride a Corbin seat. Don`t ride more than 500 miles in a day and it`s just fine (wife was with me on the 4,500 mile trip in 2009). Wife likes it too. Trip took it easy on me last times I rode with him - besides, we spent a lot of time B-Sing on the patio and had a great time.
August 19, 2011VT, it sounds like you might want to try a new set of bars. We had a guy sit on his bike and put his hands in a comfortable (relatively) position and then measured the reach and height. Just a thought.
August 19, 2011Dave,
I have considered new bars, I looked at those Heli-bars in Laconia last year and in Sturgis this year, but I cannot see paying $800 or more for a set of handlebars. It does not bother me that much for most of the riding that I normally do, just on these trips when I do these very long days.

Ya know I recall seeing a "sample" setup once before, but don`t remember where or what manufactorer did it.......But this topic (to make sales), really calls for a "mock-up" so you could reasonably sample different bars.
You would have a seat position that could be raised or lowered to simulate your ride height and then a normal spacing for the gas tank and then a bracket that could do quick connect......risers and/or different handlebars.
I`ve tried the (hold a set in front of you near by the existing bars and try to figure if you might like `em.........It`s a difficult and iffy deal.
