6 months agoDave, I am glad you got to go, I watched some of it on the television, was watching that and the golf tournament, and taking some naps in my recliner. Looks like Kevin Harvick has all of those guys number right now. That win yesterday was his third win in a row. I have been to a lot of Nascar races in the past, but have not attended one now for many years, I always enjoyed going back then, at least I thought I did, now I enjoy watching it on television and being able to stay home and watch it from my recliner, no noise, not travel, and no hangovers.
6 months agoOh Dave, I used to enjoy the scenery at the races a lot!!!! just sayin! There were some good lookers that came to the tracks.
6 months agoThanks, VT. I`ve been to tons of NHRA races and local/regional roundy rounds but this was my first NASCAR race. I got burnt worse than any time in a few years but it was still awesome.
An EOD guy with the Boulder Crest Retreat gave me a free ticket. They do retreats for Vets, 2-7 days free, you just need your own food. PTSD and other treatment for combat Vets as well. Good group to donate funds to as well.
6 months agoI used to live about 10 miles from the Nascar track there in Martinsville, Va., went to lots of races there. Have also went to Charlotte motor speedway a number of times. I used to love to go, but the older I get the less I want to go. Have not been now for a lot of years. I am glad you had a good time, and yes you can really get sunburned there at the nascar tracks, the wind of the cars may aid in doing that along with the sunshine.
6 months agoThe Paper Clip had to be an interesting track, VT.
6 months agoYou know that track is known for all of the action there, but that could really be a boring race too if there were not wrecks. They are also know for their Hot Dogs there too, supposed to be the best on the racing circuit. That racetrack has undergone major changes and building on of granstands since I first went there when I was a kid. The first race that I attended there was in the 1950"s so you know it has changed a lot in almost 70 years
6 months agoHot dogs and cuckoo clocks. I`ve heard that!
6 months agoActually Dave it is Granfather clocks not cuckoo clocks. They are made over there at Gravely Furniture company right close to the race track. I have one of those clocks upstairs on my 2nd floor, nice clocks.
Well almost all of the snow that fell here yesterday is gone, some left in shady areas , but where the sun hit it all of it is gone. It came it snowed hard, it was pretty, and now it is gone, now that is the way I like it. Wife just told me, they were calling for another chance of snow next week. Well it is still winter time, although the trees are budding out and the grass is turning green and growing . Will not be officially spring for 9 more days, you can get lots of winter weather in that period of time.
6 months agoI knew that. I don`t know where cuckoo came from! I know the winter deal. The OL is so tired of shoveling and dealing with it. We`ve had rain on and off since Saturday. My bike has never looked this schitty. I need to give it a good bath. I only do it once a year usually! And least I don`t have to shovel!LOL Y`all will be out soon.
