She still has it sitting there,in the garage in Washington and not a barn in Missouri, still untouched since I got it running and won`t sell it.Her brother was a shipmate in my division on my last ship and still a good friend. She`s refused to sell it to her sister who passed away two years ago or to anyone, she`s like the Aesop`s Fable about the dog in the manger.Really pisses me off.
Something similar happened to me back around 1990/1991 with a barn find MINT original 70 Chevelle LS6 automatic 7xxx mile car sitting in a garage up on blocks and covered. The lady was getting evicted due to `eminent domain` bs.The car was her son`s dream car,he stored it wonderfully when he got drafted, went to Nam and was KIA there.
We shook hands, made the deal and agreed I`d come back that week end for the car.I rented a trailer that Saturday and came back cash in hand only to find the car was gone, somebody offered her a grand more and she sold it.REALLY pissed me off as she had my number and never called to say she`d gotten a better offer.I would`ve given her $5K more for the car if I had to.Instead she just sold it and never bothered to call me at all.
After that I learned to pay a deposit and get a written receipt agreeing on the purchase price and details of the agreed deal.
