September 13, 2003Greetings everyone! I just purchased my first Harley - a 2003 Dyna Wide Glide. I'm looking for some "sound" advice on my exhaust system. I'm looking for that Harley thump...booming without being obnoxious, as well as looks. Any suggestions would be great.
September 13, 2003Hello pack and welcome to the Zone!
I personally run the Python quickstrikes, AKA V&H big shot staggerds on my 03 fxdwg and love them.
I'd also purchase a jet kit, and a high flow filter when you do the pipes.
You'll notice a hige difference in performance.
September 13, 2003Howdy,
You might want to try browsing down to the Big Shots Stggrd post. A lot of information on the Vance & Hines Branded one and the Python branded one (same factory line)
I have the V&H Big Shots Staggered on my 03 FDWXG and love the deep low rumble and looks.
September 14, 2003I'll third that...also running the pythons...Love'em
September 18, 2003I thought the Pythons wouldn't fit the 03 Wide Glide. J&P, for one, says they won't. Judging by your pictures, they obviously will fit. Wish I had known that before I bought Straight Shots.
September 18, 2003Yea I had to pull my forward control extensions off and prove it to someone that they would.
September 20, 2003.....QUE!!!!!!
September 22, 2003Best advice is to simply take some time to look and listen before buying. "Sound" is about the most subjective thing about Harley's, so be sure to listen first. Go to where bikes are and find a bike with the sound and look you're after. Then, go ask the owner about it. They'll be happy to talk to you about their bike. When they do, ask about cams and other engine upgrades too since they impact the sound. With that info you can then spend money on what you're after.
September 23, 2003BEFORE you spend a bundle - check out the new S&S slip ons retaining your stock head pipes AND CROSSOVER.
You will not be dissapointed up to beyond 100/100.
Then again, I could be wrong .....
September 26, 2011Im looking for the loudest exhaust to put on my 2012 fxdwg??????? I don`t ride in the city so it should not matter! Gonna go with the v&h BR
September 29, 2011No your not..............
September 29, 2011Another deep diving DD!
Loud doesn`t equal power. I have Street Sweepers on one of my bikes, and they fall into the obnoxiously loud category. I have used baffles but choose to run them open.
That said, riding in traffic always leads to evil looks and likely add more folks into the "I hate motorcycles" group. Riding my Dresser with mild Super Trapps seems to be more tolerable to the public, even having some NOT rolling their windows up.
Do us, the riding public, a favor and get something that will still give you the power (what you really want) and the sound we all like without being of the charts loud. Just my opinion.
