December 17, 2003Crash, I agree. I registered my bike but haven't put on my stickers, just plain ugly. Until the day they stop doing 100% checks, I don't think it will be an issue.

December 17, 2003Here at Little Rock they want to see your safety sticker and if you don't have a decal they make you get a temp pass from the visitor center.
I'll post some pics of my bracket. I like being able to remove it when I'm not going to base.
December 17, 2003CCI makes a sticker bracket, just for what your doing.
Here is a pic of it.
December 17, 2003Sorry to hear that they make you have it on your bike Fatboymil. I guess each base has its own policy on whats required. Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of that. Ride Hard and Safe, Crash
December 17, 2003Sticker is required here as well. To get it you have to have the MSF course Advanced Rider card (a good thing) and ID along with state registration and insurance card. I have the CCI plate mentioned above. All I can say about it is it works and can be mounted in a number of places. Mine is on the front left axle so it can be seen pretty easy.
December 18, 2003Here's a picture of the plate I made. A couple guys here tried to carry their stickers in their wallet but were told they must be affixed to the vehicle. There are a couple more pics in my gallery (2004 fatboy)
December 19, 2003Fatboymil, Nice looking plate. Doesn't look to bad on the bike. Have never seen the Riders completion sticker before. Did they give you it after the course or at pass and ID. Ride hard and Safe, Crash
December 19, 2003The base safety office tracks all motorcycle riders and issues the stickers after you provide them proof of an msf course completion. I leave my plate in the garage unless I'm going to the base.
December 19, 2003Fatboymil,
Nice job man, that use of the left over peg was great.
December 19, 2003At Moody AFB, GA the decal has to be affixed to the bike. I was waiting to make a plate to put my decal on the bike. I had it in my wallet when I got stopped at the gate. The guard made me put it on my bike before I could leave. I didn't want to put it on my windshield so I put it on my left lower fork, for now. From using wheel cleaners the numbers are not even visible anymore. When I first got here there was no requirement to show proof of taking a MSF course. You just got issued the base decal. Now they have realized their error and make sure that you have to show your MSF card to get the decal. We have to have our MSF card with us at all times. We can be stopped at any time anywhere on base and asked if we have the card. If we don't then we have to walk from where we are. If you are stopped on base and you don't have all of the required protective gear then you must walk form where you are stopped. The requirement to wear a "traffic vest" at all times while riding on and off base has not come down yet, but it is coming. What the HD riders are doing is buying the HD reflective vests and then sewing patches on the black areas of the vest. That covers the current requirement for "bright, contrasting colors." These are not motorcycle riders who are making the regulations. When I was stationed at Travis AFB, CA we had a separate decal for after we took the MSF course. Moody does not.
March 3, 2004Fatboymil,
Made 1 for me and a friend and get compliments on it all the time.
-Go to Ace Hardware and buy a small piece of Angle Aluminum. ($20), makes about 8-10.
-Line up to the center bolt under the triple tree.
-Trim decal a bit smaller.
-Don't drill a hole for the center bolt, rather just a slot so you don't have to take the center bolt out for removal.
-You can even mount a fork bag when your not going to use the decal, it will hide the entire bracket.
-You can polish the aluminum like chrome.
-Let me know if you want some pics???
