July 26, 2005Gilroy, I'm glad to hear that some still remember our liberation of France in WWII. Everyone I speak to who have been in foreign countries and seem to understand the anti-USA sentiment says that their gripe is that we are too self centered and don't understand their way of life.
Maybe they're right. If we are self centered, could it be because we think we have it good and don't understand why everyone else doesn't do it our way? If we don't understand their way of life, could it be that (in muslim countries and those with large muslim populations) we don't know why they blow each other up so often?
Is it so hard to understand that we don't want to DECREASE our standard of living to match theirs?
BTW has anyone ever checked the figures on how much we spend on foreign aid as opposed to our deficit? Might could balance the books....since nobody seems to like us anyway.
