More power to you trying to do wheelie’s on a Harley – you’re only a heart beat away from “stoppie’s” - hopefully I’m just kidding. I’ve watched enough “gee, I didn’t think that would happen” video’s of kids on Crotch Rockets to know that ain’t for me……..
Anyway to your questions:
Noise Level – I think they are just about right – just about the same as my Big Shots Staggered pipes were. I measured the noise levels on both sets of pipes with the same cal’d audio meter from work.

Probably if you want the best performance pipes you’d have to go to something like the “Supertrapp” style disk exhaust & dial in what you want. I’ve heard about others that offer performance increases also. Now for me I wanted something that looked great on the bike- period. I also wanted a quality product – chrome, construction, & customer support – IMHO Vance & Hines offers that – so I sort of limited my selection to their products. Before the Big Radius came out – I really liked the Big Shot Staggered Pipes I had & I certainly had no problems with them.
Of course, as you’ll note, in previous posts – when the BR came out I wanted them big time – only pipe I ever bought without hearing them first.
The link below shows the dyno info of my bike with the Big Shot Staggered & Big Radius pipes installed – same guy, machine, computer doing both runs so even if the absolute numbers are in question, the relative numbers are correct.
You’ll note that the BR have more Torque/HP in the lower RPM ranges than the BSS pipes do – for me where I run that makes more sense to me (where I normally drive). I normally don’t drive down the road at 4,000+ RPM - @ 75 mph I’m pulling about 3,200 rpm.
The construction of the BR pipes is a stepped down design which give more back pressure & therefore more HP/Torque in the lower rpm ranges.
If you are going down the hop up route – 103”, 113”, ported heads, wilder cams, etc the pipes might not work out….
Below are a couple of other links which might be of interest….
