November 27, 2007Its that time of year again! Are there any problems with storing the bike for the winter on a jack for 2-3 months? The bike will be kept in a dry shed and is safe from being tampered with so I am not worried to much about it getting bounced around.

November 27, 2007i posted the same question last winter in the "suspension" thread here
i think thats the link to it (copy and paste), but if not go to my topics started and you can see it in there, hope it helps, i left mine just barely touching the floor, it was that way for about 70 days
November 28, 20072 to 3 months on its tires isn't gonna hurt anything. Bikes for sale at the dealers and shops sit there longer than that.
November 28, 2007I am going to leave it up but keep a little pressure on the tires. I also plan on giving them a periodic turn. I got back on a bike after a long spell and it is just killing me to put it away until the cold breaks. You know what you can do with the midwest weather.
November 29, 2007I leave mine well off the ground from about mid-November until two good rains after the spring thaw. It has worked out fine.
I must say my primary reason for doing this is ease of movement of the bike for storage. I can shove it straight in a tight spot barely longer than the length of the bike. I could never back in in there as tight as I am able to fit it in on the jack.
