I thought the deal was...."Pay me now or pay me later"
December 3, 2010Got a good deal on some OEM Black filters a year back. I prefer them to the chrome anyhow. I have used the Mobil 1 equivalent with no issues and its black as well. I leave the chrome for my pipes.
December 3, 2010Oil filters??? .........you guys change those??
December 3, 2010This is an old thread ,you guys are dumpster diving again.
Is it true you can save money by running your old filters through a parts washer and reuse them?
I learned that out in Arizona from a guy that is into recycling.
December 3, 2010Still learning a lot from u guys. But for some reason OEM filters are very cheep over here (its the only fecking thing) so i just change them when i do my OIL at every 10k is that about right?
December 3, 2010LOL. I know u would kill me for that Trip
December 3, 2010Times is hard back here in the Blue Ridge Mtns. of Virginia, we have to save when we can and we have to do our part at preventing polution. That includes recycling oil and filters from our Harleys.
I really appreciate all of the tips that I picked up in Az. on recycling oil through coffee filters and magnets, and using the plastic bucket and gas method of parts washing to recycle the filters. All of this has enabled me to maximize the usage of my oil and filters, and to extend the life of these products indefinately. Which has the end result of vast financial savings, and reduced wear on engine parts, because you learn to refine your process the more you use it.
December 4, 2010Ya`ll change oil?????? I thought you just waited until it "disappeared".LOL
December 4, 2010VT was extremly bummed when i told him him i didnt have a parts bucket....he DID however, manage to find some STP ....so he said he,s good for another 5000 miles....He said if he hears a knock..he,ll grab one of those Diesil truck filters, used, from a truck stop..........said he,s always had good luck with that type.,,in fact, he says if he gets their early in the morning...all the waters usually seperated from the oil out back and he can siphon off 3 quarts with no problem.
