December 20, 2010whats the best earl to run in a Sporty primary case???(evo)
December 20, 201040W dino would be my guess. But If it were mine mobil 1 supersyn 20w50
December 20, 2010Theres a tranny in there...i,m thinking 75-90 gear oil...20/50 way to thin.
December 20, 2010
I`m thinkin` this might be a "trick" question as on a Sportster, I was thinkin` all that stuff murged together...........
December 20, 2010No...no trick...i just dont work on a lot of em and forgot what used....20/50 for the oil bag and 75/90 for the primary is what i,m thinkin.... .................i guess i could open the Manual...lol***
December 20, 2010HD says syn3, all 3 holes. Or 2 holes on a Sporty......LOL
December 20, 2010If the Trans is seperate from the primary, I would definately use the gear oil ,I like the Amsoil 75/110 or the heavier one I think 90/130. Anyway I use that in my Trans and it shifts so much better it is almost unbelievable. But you allready knew that.
December 20, 2010Whole different application...the Sportys clutch shares the same oil as the tranny...friction modifiers come into play..
December 21, 2010Remeber the good "Sport Trans Fluid"? that was some good stuff although I must say the Formula + works ok.
December 21, 2010Formula+ will carry that tranny , Tat??? ...sounds awfully thin...no???
July 17, 2011If you don`t already have your problem solved, I use HD 20w-50 in the primary on my 84 Sportster and it works great. When I bought the bike used, it didn`t shift very good and the clutch was grabby and it chattered. First thing I did was change the oil and it has been performing perfectly ever since. Even riding on days with temps of 100+, the bike has not had one clutch or tranny issue since.
