July 16, 2011I have a 1984 Sportster with a strange problem that I need help with. When engine speed increases from idle the headlight gets dimmer and dimmer the higher the rpm the dimmer the light gets. When rpm drops the light gets brighter. This only happens with low beam. High beam is not affected nor are any of the other lights. When at idle, the low beam is bright and steady. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don`t know the answer, but there are quite a few fellows on here that know a lot more than I so be patient and you will probably get some suggestions.

July 17, 2011You would be surprized at the amount of dirt and crud and corosion that can build up inside those switcheds. My ignition got to acting up on my 2003 Roadking I bought a new one it did not fit right. so I tore the origianl one apart as far as I could dissasemble it and I cleaned it up real good with electrical contacty clean and WD40 and even sanded some surfaces in there and it went back to working just fine. I kept the new one in the bag for a spare, never needed it before I traded the bike in 2009 and I still have the switch new in the box in the garage.
