5 months agoLOL They aren`t as aggressive as Cottonmouths for sure. You are right. 300WM is aggressive and deadly. I have a better scope for it. I just need to get off my azz and get it done.

5 months agoI have a model 70 Winchester in .264 WM and also a BAR in 338 WM. both of them are Hosses for sure, lots of knockdown power on the other end.
5 months agoBoth hammers for sure. I have a .338WM but I don`t shoot it very often anymore. My shoulder must be getting more tender these days!LOL
5 months agoMy 338 is a BAR like I said automatic rifle, so the recoil from it though quite significant is still less than it would be in a bolt action 338. But the 264WM is a 338 necked down and it is a model 70 bolt action, the recoil from that is also significant, but not as much as the 338 auto with the big grain bullets. I shoot 120 grains in the 264 and in the 338 at least a 225 grain bullet, so the felt recoil is more from the projectile size than the amount of powder.
Do not really pay a lot of attention to the recoil, especially while shooting at game, target shooting is more noticeable, but not bad with either one. I really don`t think they have a lot more recoil than my old trusty Remington 700BDLRS with 150grain bullets. The 270 is the one I shoot deer hunting every year. But have also killed deer with the magnums, but sometime they cause more trauma to the meat.
5 months agoYou were talking about scopes and better, I own Leupold, Redfield, Tasco, Weaver,Bushnell, and others. On my 270 BDLRS I have a Guide gear scope from Sportsmans Guide it is 3x12 x56mm , I paid about $79 bucks for it and it is the best scope I have ever owned, got green and red lighted reticles in it too, never used those hardly ever , but they still work well. And the optics are crystal clear and powerful.
Also on my Remington Sendero 25/06 I have a world class Tasco 4x24x44mm and it has range finder in it, extremely powerful, clear ,and dead on the money.
5 months agoI think you guys need to go to Guantanamo and practice on some ragheads. I guess some target shooting and hunting will have to do tho.
5 months agoGood optic collection, VT. I have a Tasco 6-24 with a BDC in it and it is pretty decent for the money.
I don`t get around well enough to hunt anymore so I mostly target shoot these days. The felt recoil at the bench is worse than the field shooting at game as you said. I like to ring steel out to 800 yards since my local range has that option.
5 months agoGitmo would be a good place to practice, McG!
5 months agoChecked in here late tonight, just got home from karaoke and getting ready to hit the sack. Road the Roadglide out tonight went sleeveless , but I had jacket with me which I wore home, nice night for riding here. I like the gitmo raghead idea, and dave we could ring their noggin from back at about 800 yds. 25-06 I got would be good for that. And at that range it would be real impersonal.
5 months agoMy 6.5 Creedmoor is good for that as well. It was 80 here today and still 67 when I rode home at 9pm. Nice weather.
5 months agoThat 6.5 creedmore is a new cartridge, at least one that I have been hearing about the past few years, supposed to be long and flat I think and there is also one out called 300 blackout that is supposed to be similar in ballistics. I may not have all that right , but that is my uptake on those two calibers.
5 months agoThe Creedmoor is relatively new. The .300BO is a suppressed round by design and has a max effective range of around 200 meters. Not much good past that.
