4 months agoOl Blue here. Haven`t been on in a long time. Wasn`t even sure this place still existed until I got a note from VThunder the other day. We moved to a new town and home in August of 2018. Been in that house for 34 years, so moving was a huge undertaking. Bought a place in Florida after I retired in 2014. My father in law who we had been taking care of for 10 years passed away in 2016. We spend 6 months in Kentucky now and spend 6 months in Florida. Haven`t had time to ride much, maybe 30 miles last year. I leave the scoot in Kentucky, no way I will ride down here with all these 80 and 90 year olds driving. It scares me to get our in a cage.

4 months agoHey Olblue! Welcome back. We are trying to keep the Zone alive. Its a bit of a struggle. Lost too many good people.
Good to hear y`all are snow birds now. What part of Florida?
4 months agoWe`re at Fort Myers Beach. Way down south.
4 months agoNice. I never spent much time down in that part of Florida. I lived up in the panhandle at Ft Walton Beach for 10 years when I was stationed at Eglin AFB.

Sounds like you picked a good spot to land. Should be lots of great weather down there, I have a nephew and his wife that live in Ft. Myers. About 3 yrs ago, my wife and I spent close to a month at Lake Okeechobee fishing and while there, went over to Ft. Myers for a visit.
We`re trying to plan another fishing trip down that way, not the same lake but maybe Lake Istokpoga which is in that same area. Need to get out of N.C. sometime early Spring for a while and warmer weather.
4 months agoWelcome back Ernie!!!!!! I just got back home last night at 8pm. haven`t even unloaded my truck yet. This will be a short post here , I have dr. appt at 10 so I got to run. But Dave and I have been trying hard to get some of the old bunch back on here that is why I invited you. Great having you back!!!!!
4 months agoGot back from Dr. checkup while ago, have to go every 6 months. He told me that I was doing good and in good shape for someone my age. To just continue eating the way I have been eating and start exercising more than I have been doing. Guess you guys will be stuck with me for a while yet.LOL
I still haven`t unloaded my truck yet from my hunting trip, but the weather is schitty outside ,been raining off and on for the whole morning and the rain is supposed to increase this afternoon. Well I have two motorcycles and a Cadillac I can go out on if I find it necessary to do so, and I am just in not hurry to unload it.
4 months agoGlad the doctor`s appointment went well, VT. That`s always good news.
4 months agoOl` Blue - good to hear from you. I spent a couple of weeks there every spring (March time frame) on my boat for five years. The best beach on the West Coast. Almost bought a house in Coral Gables, on a canal, but couldn`t afford the utilities. Myrtle Beach has been okay for the last twenty years.
Kentucky is beautiful and green in the summer. Rode through there many times.
4 months agoWe had lived in Kentucky 34 years way out in the country, 45 miles to WalMart and 65 miles from decent medical care. I was mowing 6.5 acres of yard. When my wife`s dad passed, we said time for a change. Moved in a suburb of Lexington, 1/2 acre yard to mow and convenient for about everything. We really love Florida also. We are on Estero Island, right off Fort Myers. Been doing a little fishing from the boat but don`t know squat about salt water fishing or salt water navigation for that matter. We have a pontoon, so we do the back bay and go up the Gulf front on calm days. Glad to catch up with everyone. VT, glad the Dr. visit went well.
4 months agoOl`Blue - catch a fishing trip on one of the charter boats for a day. You will learn all you need to know from the mate. Just give him like $20.00 for a tip and he will talk to you about bait, lures, and rods. Most of the time the Gulf is real tame. You can go up the back way to the resturant on the island and also go to Burnt Store Marina off of Charlotte Harbor. I suppose you go and dock on the inland side of Sannibel and go walk the beach on the gulf. I stayed in that area about 3 weeks every spring while on my way back to North Myrtle Beach. Have a great time.
