November 1, 2015Well kids, shortly after I got my Softail I had a vision of what it should be some day. That dream was to make it different than any other Softail "Standard". One element of the design was to fit a larger size tire on the back. So I made a 180mm tire fit on the rear. Of course Harley put a 200 on the newer Softails, but I like the looks the 180 on it. Another mod was to rake the front end out some. I haven`t done anything about that yet since I like the feel of the stock geometry. The other thing I always wanted to do was to put a belt drive on it. Mission accomplished!
November 1, 2015Congrats! I like it. Very bare bones looking, I think I will build one just like it
November 2, 2015LOL I`ll send you the plans!! LOL
November 3, 2015Looks real neat. I see you still go for the Jockey Shift. That bike kinda looks like the bike I saw in Seattle when I met you and Tripp. I would think a lot of crap would come off that front tire into your face but what do I know. Just don`t take it out in the rain. Have fun with it and ride safe.
November 3, 2015Hey McG! How are things? That bike should look familiar. It IS the same bike, give or take a few mods, or so. LOL Most folks think its a custom bike. I guess it has changed a bit over the years.
Unless its raining I really don`t notice the lack of fender at all. what does come up off the road hits the front of the motor.
November 3, 2015The same but different.
November 7, 2015It does look good. I like the pipes like that.
November 10, 2015Thanks, McG!
November 14, 2015Looks great. What did you do to get the 180 wheel on? And the fender so low under the seat? The seat looks like a Rocker seat pan but I know it`s the same as when stock.
November 14, 2015Hey Joke. I just had to pull all of the belt guards off, and cant the wheel just a bit to clear the belt.
The fender is what`s left of the stock fender. I cut it and stuck it in an English wheel and made it round instead of square, and left the flip tail intact. It might be hard to tell what it was and what it is, and that`s how I like it.
The seat is a stock Corbin Softail solo seat. After I was done somebody said, "cool rocker". And that is sorta what it looks like. So now I need to do something with the seat I guess.
I`m open to ideas!
