11 weeks agoAsh - I`ve been touting Ford engines. Thinking about the Ford 351 Cleveland. As it stands - much stronger and faster than equal Chevy. However, in all my reading it is just a matter of choice and how much money you want to spend. I believe the Cleveland to be a much stronger and faster engine.. It was built in 1971, 1972, and 1973 for the muscle cars. There are still many after-market parts choices. Primarily in the head dept. It was interesting reading. The Ford Windsor i would say comes in second. After that comes Chevy. I believe I`m talking about mechanical engines - not the latest with all the electrical stuff on them.

11 weeks agoBoy, is that going out on a limb, McG! It depends on what era engines you are talking about. Mid 70s smog crap made for less than 200 horse for a 350 cube engine. Depending on the cam, a 327 from a Chevelle, Corvette or Camaro could be up to 350 hp. So I`d be happy to match you on the road some day!

Just another example of you coming to the wrong conclusions. We all know there are Mopar fans, Ford fans, and Chevy fans and others too.
Chevy engines don`t take a back seat to Fords or others. You`re out of something constructive to do, I`m gonna leave it to EOD to counter your erroneous assumptions and stay out of it.
Have better things to do today.......Got up at 4:15, so as to be ready to leave here at 6:15 for a tee time up around Holden Beach at 7:30 this morning.
So, I`m obviously just as crazy as you are
11 weeks agoHey Moscooter,
I guess I am crazy too, I am up cannot go back to sleep. getting ready to head to the diner in Hopewell where I go work the crossword puzzle and shoot the breeze most every morning Monday through Sat. I hope you have a good round up in Holden beach. It is 60% chance of rain here today and cooler. High temp. supposed to be in mid 60"s.
I always figured it was futile to argue over what brand of car or engine is the best, the fastest, the pretiest. Because everyone has their own taste in autos and bikes, and such, even in clothes. What toots my horn may look ugly, useless and not functional or desirable to another person.
Having said that, I have owned fords, chevys , but the only dodge I ever owned was an old 55 push button shift Dodge when I was stationed in the Phillippines. Guess I liked something about all three brands, loved my 57 chevy, it was a beast, and ran very strong. But in Nascar racing I was always a ford fan growing up, and remained a ford fan until maybe 15 years ago. Now I could care less who wins. And I am more into Harleys now than cages anyway......
You guys go ahead and slug it out, and may the best man or should I say car win!!!!!!! LOL!!!!
11 weeks agoI hope golf went well, MoScooter. A hobby that never interested me. Not sure why.
What caliber is better? What color hair do you like best? Who makes the best bike? Everybody has their own opinion. Pound for pound you can`t beat the small block Chevy though!Hahaha

EOD....Likely it is good that you never got into golf. While some seem to have a natural "knack" for it, most of us do not. The result is quite often a whole lot of frustration.
The other side of it is being out on a nice day with several buddies and (trying) to have a good time.
Actually, I shared "low net" today on very tough course.......so no complaints today.
As to caliber, I`m a 9MM Glock owner along with a Bond Arms derringer in 410/45 long colt caliber. Works for me.
As to hair color, I`m tossed between blonds and brunettes........and the question of the day when it comes to red heads.........is always...."Does the rug match the drapes"
11 weeks agoGood stuff MoScooter! I`ve always said a golf course is a perfectly good waste of a rifle range though! I do have a golf ball launcher for my ARs. You are supposed to use 5.56 blanks, but I`ve used my .22 conversion kit and full up .223 rounds. I put enough thought into it to design a sport around it. Different rounds for different distances. With .223 you can go 500yrds at least! LMAO
I`m a 1911/.45 guy, but I carry a .40cal of one flavor or another as a back-up. .357mag or one of my 9mms as a back-up to those! LOL
I`ve always been a blonde guy, but have been down the brunette road, and luckily twice down the red head road! Hahaha
11 weeks agoHope you guys have a great day, just got back in from the diner , drinking coffee, working crossword puzzles and shooting the breeze. Rode my bike out this morning, it is a beautiful day here in central Va. supposed to get up near 80 today. Getting ready to go over to the Harley dealership in a bit. They are having a riding season kickoff today, vendors maybe some music and some eats. Going out now to detail spray my bike before I head out.
11 weeks agoGood deal, VT. Enjoy the day! It is your day after all! LOL
11 weeks agoWay to go VT. I can`t argue these new electric engines with anyone I I do favor Hemi`s. My Vette used to destroy anything it went against. The weight ratio did the job. Today the big horsepower jobs are fast (all manufacturers). The fastest car around town in 1966 was my friends 1965 Pontiac Tempest. Three Two barrels and he destroyed my 1966 390 Ford and my other good friends 389 GTO (1966). The GTO and I were equal. We used to street race down IBM road. I still like Iron, not wire. They are making awfully fast Ford engines now though. The word crate engine and Chevy 350 is what is popularly spoken of though.
11 weeks agoAll I got now is my old car and truck the 2001 Caddy and 2001 Toyota Tundra. Both are pretty much stock and both run good enough to get me where I want to go. The Cadillac has the Northstar engine in it, Cadillacs high performance engine at the time, pretty peppy, but I go for gas mileage now days and hardly ever get on it. The truck has a 4.7 liter V8 in it, and it has 245,000 miles on it and still runs great , burns no oil and is not that great on gas. I put headers on the Tundra and a K&N air filter to let it breathe better, the old truck is still peppy and will haul it pretty good for a 5,000 lb. truck.
Will see ya`ll in a couple of weeks McG, Moscooter, coming down on Sunday May 13th.
11 weeks agoYou know VT I do believe if you switch the over to Mobile 1 they will last longer still. Of course any good synthetic will do. I really believe it that stuff. My 2005 Vette that I got rid of last July had almost no wear on the Engine, good transmission, and rear end was like new. Had to drop the pack pan to change the fluid (no dip stick). GM WIRES AND COMPUTERS AND Regulator motors are all crap. I would have gone Mopar Challenger if the interior fit and finish had been better. Them Hemi`s go like heck. See you in a couple of weeks.
