Well figured I`d write an update. Still haven`t gotten around to fix the pinion sticking issue yet. Have all the parts just no time. Will no doubt get to it over the winter. Gotta say with the addition of the belt drive and round oil tank I really like the look. Gonna back off this winter from any big mods and concentrate on that SG I want. Then it will be time to mod again!

Well, bike`s ok. Runs great and no issue`s to date! The ride went well last Saturday with a turnout of 60+ bikes. Friends, friends of friends, etc, all turned out. Was a bit chilly but the chill wore off after we headed out and got into some real nice terrain! I led the pack through some of the finest roads in Sussex County into Port Jervis NY then into PA. We all stopped to eat/meet/drink at Cedar Rapids Bar & Rest. in Shohola, PA. Great time! From there we kinda split up. For those who stayed with me we wandered over to Rohmans for a pit stop then took another scenic ride back stopping at Fireman Dan`s in Sussex, then proceeded back to home base.
All in all the bike ran great with the exception of the starter pinion hanging up once which was fixed by rocking it in gear. I have to modify the new one by cutting the splined adapter in half and welding in about 3/4" spacer so it will reach the flywheel. Then she`ll be all set. Swapping the plugs and oil this weekend and she`s ready to roll once again!
My next future mod no doubt will be a six-speed trans for this bike for sure!!

Well it`s been a couple of weeks since I finished the bike. Haven`t had much seat time due to vacation, the weather and kids schedules. Last night I installed my Haulin Ass backrest to complete it. Then I wanted to adjust my belt and a simple 15 minute job(more of a PITA w/Phatail kit and not stock adjusters)turned into a 2 hour job. I realize now that the belt I put on is slightly longer than I need. I swapped from a 34 tooth trans pulley back to a 32 tooth. I had bought the belt before I intended on this swap. So, after playing with the adjustment I still didn`t like the wheel felt like it was binding up. End result is it is slightly tighter than I like and the wheel still dragging a bit although the axle is well greased and I have brand new wheel bearings installed, I`m gonna give it hell today to see how it is. Hopefully nothing fails and when I get back I can simple re-adjust to my liking!4/19/2011 6:46p
Well got it all together and it looks pretty good. Just waiting for my pinion spring and washer to fire her up and check for leaks, and making sure belt alignment is perfect. Can`t wait to get out on the road and chill for a bit!3/28/2011 1:16p
So, just throwing some thoughts down. Waiting for the correct starter to arrive so I can start re-assembling the bike. Not really missing much riding time right now since it`s still snowing and temps are frigid...Can`t wait to get it together, post up some new pix and feel that wind in my face again!
Ride safe my friends!
